This morning I was browsing through a few websites that offered horses for sale, and some of the prices were astounding, both in good ways and in bad. So I thought up a little game. I have selected three horses. They are all in the same age range, same gender, and same breed. It is YOUR job to price them highest to lowest in the comments (which are working again, so if they were giving you trouble before, try now!) based on what you think each horse is worth. I have copied and pasted the ads exactly as they are written. Good luck!

If the Price is Right!
For those loyal blog followers out there, you may have noticed I've been posting quite a bit lately. This is because I am on vacation (YAY for me!) and as it is a very low key, stay all-day-in-your-PJs kind of vacation, I have lots of extra time to think of ways to entertain my readers.

Horse #1: Four year old AQHA 15.2H gelding. Vegas is a very nice 4 yr.old AQHA reg.Buckskin gelding. he has had aprox. 90 days with me in training. He is a very sweet easy to get along with gelding. He has done more in 90 days than most do in a lifetime. From cow work, trail riding to the Grand entry at our local rodeo. He has been trail ridden a lot. He is very safe and solid on the trail whether going out alone or with others. Located in Pennsylvania.
Horse #2: Five year old AQHA 14.2H gelding. This gelding has great conformation, straight legs with good feet,a very nice head, good ears and very soft eyes, a very handsome fella. He is very well broke and trail wise, alone or in a group and very easy to handle. He rides with a simple snaffle bit. He can go weeks between rides and be just as calm and gentle as the last ride. A good horse for a confident rider. This picture was taken on a trail ride, straight from the pasture, not much grooming done here, can do better pics if interested. Located in Kentucky.
Horse #3: Four year old AQHA 15.1H gelding. Beautiful, stout, grey, 4 year old gelding. Shown at the NSHA Snaffle Bit Futurity in Paso Robles, in the Amatuer Class as a 3 year old and as a Open Reiner this year. He is a pleaser with a huge heart. He will do anything you ask him too. He enjoys his job and looks good doing it! He has also been used as a ranch horse branding calves and as a turn back. Anyone can ride this big guy. Located in CA.

Who Am I? Horse Breed #3
You know the drill - I give you three facts about a breed plus a picture (I think this breed is pretty easy to guess, so I am not going to include a picture unless everyone gets really stumped) and the first person to guess correctly is the winner! There are only two rules:
1) Don’t cheat. I know you could Google the answer in a heartbeat, but where is the fun in that? Just give your best honest answer.
2) Only one guess per person.
Now, on to the third Who Am I? horse.
• I am one of the oldest breeds that originated in the USA
• I am the official state animal of Vermont and the official state horse of Massachusetts
• The founding sire of my breed is Figure, although he is best known by another name
• Who Am I?

Who Am I? Horse Breed #2
So you think you know your horse breeds? Last time it took two days for someone to guess the correct answer; lets see if you guys can do better than that this time! You know the drill - I give you three facts about a breed plus a picture and the first person to guess correctly is the winner! There are only two rules:
1) Don’t cheat. I know you could Google the answer in a heartbeat, but where is the fun in that? Just give your best honest answer.
2) Only one guess per person.
Now, on to the second Who Am I? horse.
• I come from England
• Before the railroad, it was my job to transport ore from the mines
• There are less than 300 of me living in North America
• Who Am I?
CONGRATULATIONS, ALLI & DINO! THE SECOND MYSTERY BREED WAS THE FELL PONY.
To learn more about the Fell Pony, click here. Often called the "mini friesian" of the horse world, the Fell Pony is a very versatile working breed that is used primarily for riding and driving. The height limit for the breed is 14H, and the majority of fell ponies stand around 13.2H. The patron of the Fell Pony is the Queen of England.

Who Am I? Horse Breed Edition.
In an effort to get more active participation going on this blog (I know you’re out there reading; I have a stats counter!) I am going to start incorporating some fun games and quizzes that you can answer via the comments. You don’t even have to register for anything to comment – just put yourself as anonymous or open ID. It works. I tried it.
The first fun game is going to be a “Who Am I?” of horse breeds. Once a week I’ll feature a not so common horse, give you some hints about them, maybe show you a picture, and the first person to guess the breed correctly wins! There are only two rules:
1) Don’t cheat. I know you could Google the answer in a heartbeat, but where is the fun in that? Just give your best honest answer.

Now, on to the first Who Am I? horse.
• I was used as a warhorse and cavalry horse
• I am the oldest of the European Draft breeds
• I come in bay, roan, chestnut, gray, and palomino.
• Who Am I?
CONGRATULATIONS, ANONYMOUS! (AKA HAYLEY). YOU'RE GUESS WAS CORRECT. THE MYSTERY BREED IS THE ARDENNES!

BM's Favorite Clip of the Week
For those of you who have ever wanted to know what it is like to show at the Grand Prix level, I give you helmet cam! Courtesy of RMSJ TV, this clip shows John Anderson riding his amazing horse Terrific in the World Cup Qualifier.
Someday, Poppy... Someday.
PS - All of you suck for not entering my first ever official Barn Manager Blog contest... Do you really want me to feature my own horse as the winner? Do you? Because I will!

Fun Friday!
In honor of the work week nearly being over for those normal 9-5ers, I’m going to have the first Barn Manager Blog Contest. The rules are pretty simple… I want to know everything you can tell me about your horse is 250 words or less. Some things to include are name, age, breed, how you got them, what they excel at, and their fears/dislikes. Feel free to adlib at will, as long is it remains under the 250 word limit. You can also (are actually encouraged to) include a picture! The contest will run for exactly one week and the winner will be announced next Friday, March 18th. The following week the winner will have the honor of their horse being featured as the Horse of Week and will get the chance to write up an entire profile with pictures for everyone to see.
Please submit all entries into the comment section of this blog post. If for some reason the comments aren’t working (they have been a little quirky lately) you can send me an e-mail at bayhorsegirl10@yahoo.com . Remember, the easiest way to leave a comment is to become follower of the Barn Manager Blog! It isn’t that hard, I promise, and you can do it either through Facebook or Google.
Finally, the horse you submit does not have to be your own. It can be a favorite lesson horse, a horse you lease, or a horse you wish you had. Just remember that if you use pictures of a horse that isn’t yours you have permission to use them.
Good luck!

Barn Manager Quiz #1
So you think you know horses...
I've put together a fun quiz for those of you who think you know everything there is to know about horses. The questions are pretty random and jump around quite a bit, so hopefully there is something there for everyone, no matter your background or discipline! Remember... no cheating!
